Saturday the 11th of February 2017
Mitch and Laura first met when they served together in the Royal Australian Navy. After both returning from the Middle East at the end of 2013 they fell head over heels in love and three and a bit years later and there we were, in Victor Harbour, celebrating their Wedding!
It was a gorgeously warm summers day that started off at Mitch’s parents home in Port Elliot. Janet, Mitch’s Mum, had put together a table full of goodies aptly titled “Eat, Drink & Smoke Cigars” which Mitch, his Father and Groomsmen enjoyed a fun morning and let me tell you, there were laughs! Mitch’s Brothers and Dad are all a bunch of jokers (and Janet too!) so there are quite a few photos you won’t see below! After spending a fun morning with the boys I headed down the road to see Laura at the home Mitch and her share. When I arrived things were in full swing. The lovely Alexia was working her magic on Laura and the girls and there was so much excitement and happiness in the room. Laura, her Bridesmaids, Mum Janet and Mother in-law (also) Janet, were all in their silk robes awaiting the time they could get ready and see Laura slip into her beautiful Wedding gown. Once the time came everyone had the biggest smiles on their faces, as well as a few tears, as they saw Laura in her dress for the first time. Champagne was popped as they toasted to the future Mrs Vines.
I headed off to the Port Elliot Soldiers Memorial just as guests were arriving for the ceremony. The location could not have been more stunning, looking out over the beach and surrounded by trees- just beautiful. Annie Somerfield conducted the ceremony and as I looked around I could see the love and happiness in everyones eyes. After the signing of the registry and family photos the Bridal Party and I walked down to the beach for some photos. We then met guests at the Victor Harbour Bowling Club which had been decorated perfectly by event styling company Bling It On.
The stunning cake by Alfresco cakes sat upon a wine barrel and Thomas from Platinum DJ’s had set up adjacent to the dance floor. The guests were wowed by amazing food from caterer Nerida, a breathtaking view of the ocean and served from the bar by the amazing volunteers from the Bowling Club. A highlight of the night was a video by none other than the Governor-General himself, Sir Peter Cosgrove, which was organised by Laura’s mum Janet and best friend Fiona, a Bridal shoe game played by the DJ and the dance floor that did not stop! So.much.fun!
It truly was a wonderful day celebrating two people absolutely perfect for one another and I feel so blessed to have been apart of it xo
