When I first met Sharni I asked her what her & Peter’s love story was and she said they didn’t have one!
Well, I’ll let you decide if you’d call this a love story (I sure do!)..
Sharni and Peter first met in High School where they became best friends. Through the ups and downs that life brings, they were always there for each other, even if they had different partners at the time. 7 years after they first met they both became single at the same time and as fate knew it, began to date. Falling more and more in love Peter finally proposed and their adventure began! Little did they know that before they were to be married they were then to be blessed with a beautiful baby boy, James. Fast forward a year or two and here they were, in their beautiful country town getting married with their adorable little man by their side! Let me tell you a little more about their special day..
Firstly, there really is nothing like the country. With the wide open spaces, gorgeous golden sun, fields of long grass and crops as far as the eye can see, you literally feel like you’re in another world! It was a gorgeously warm day as I drove up from Adelaide and when I first arrived at their home I was greeted by Sharni and the girls with so much excitement, I instantly felt like I was arriving as a friend. Sharni and Peter opted for a first look before the ceremony so after the girls were ready we headed down a few dirt roads to an open field surrounded by tall pine trees. Peter waited anxiously amongst the pines as Sharni walked up to him. She put her hand over his eyes and when he turned around he was in awe! Peter grabbed Sharni by the waist and pulled her in close for a kiss, today was the day he was marrying his best friend.
We regrouped with the bridal party and had some fun capturing them all together, including having some photos in a shearing shed.. ahh the country! We then headed to the ceremony which was setup on a large hill overlooking the famous pink lake in Lochiel. After the ceremony guests headed back to their family property where they celebrated in style in a clear marquee decorated so beautifully I was in awe! I snuck Sharni and Peter away for half an hour for some sunset pictures. We drove down to the pink lake and I seriously kept saying “oh my goodness, this is too gorgeous!” and then sunset photos atop a hill looking over the fields.. swoon!
What a day! Seriously, what a day! I left their reception exhausted, a little redder than I arrived (hello sun!) but with the biggest smile on my face and love in my heart. Congratulations Mr and Mrs Nicholls, I am so happy for you! xo
